Introduction

Rupert Collins Plastics is an Australian owned manufacturing company with more than 50 years’ experience in the radio frequency (RF) welding of vinyl products; and the design & manufacture of polypropylene products. We can provide a solution for all of your stationery and packaging needs, starting with help and advice at the design stage, through all levels of printing and manufacture.

As a custom manufacturer, we apply our skills to meeting your individual requirements, rather than providing an “off-the-shelf” compromise.

We are proud to be licensed to use the Australian Made logo on our products, and our aim is to satisfy your needs with a quality product, delivered on time.

At Rupert Collins, our goal is to be a “one-stop-shop”; if we cannot manufacture a suitable product, our large contact base will enable us to source products elsewhere, either within Australia or overseas.

Our History

Rupert Collins, the person, founded the business early in the 1930’s, as a manufacturer of leather tobacco pouches and glasses cases. His main customer was G. J. Coles. During World War 2, as a spin-off from Radar technology, there was an incredible growth in the knowledge and the utilisation of radio frequency in many areas of plastic fabrication.

Following the war, Rupert diversified into RF welded vinyl stationery products. The company prospered until Rupert died in 1972, and the company fell onto hard times. By 1979, the company had become unviable. A group of people working within the industry saw an opportunity and bought the company from the receivers in 1980. Since that time the company has enjoyed a return to prosperity that continues today.

Our Environmental Policy

At Rupert Collins, we have long been an advocate of effective recycling of manufacturing waste, consisting of vinyl, polypropylene, and paper.

All of our scrap is collected on a weekly basis for re-use or for shipment overseas. We are committed to environmental improvement and the prevention of pollution. We work to identify and assess risk areas, and we implement systems to eliminate any negative environmental outcomes.

General Plastics Information

PVC, or polyvinyl chloride, is a thermoplastic polymer and is one of the most valuable products of the chemical industry. It is used in a variety products ranging from IV blood and medical drip bags, to potable water and sewerage pipes. In it’s final user form, vinyl has proven to be extremely safe and durable.

Polypropylene, (poly), is also a thermoplastic polymer, used in a wide variety of products ranging from Australian banknotes, through rope, carpet, automotive parts, and many food containers. It is a rugged plastic, and is unusually resistant to chemicals and acids.

Both of these polymers are used extensively in the stationery industry worldwide.
